Herbert Hoover completes perfect season with 2nd straight AA title

VIENNA, W.Va. — Herbert Hoover completed its 33-0 season on Thursday by beating Chapmanville Regional 11-1 for a second straight Class AA softball state championship.

The Huskies scored 11 straight runs after falling behind 1-0 in the first.

Three runs in the bottom of the first and six more runs in the bottom of the second gave Hoover complete control.

Chapmanville had avoided elimination earlier in the day with an 11-1 win over Petersburg. The Tigers would have needed two wins over Hoover after falling to the Huskies late Wednesday night 1-0.

It’s the second straight runner-up finish for Chapmanville (22-5).
