US Senate Judiciary Committee approves Kleeh nomination

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved Thursday a nominee for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, moving the nomination to the full chamber.

Tom Kleeh is a partner at Steptoe & Johnson PLLC in Charleston and staff counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee in the West Virginia Senate.

U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., spoke before the Judiciary Committee last month in favor of Kleeh.

“Tom is incredibly qualified to serve West Virginia as a judge on the U.S. District Court, a fact that has been recognized by individuals from all corners of the legal community,” Capito said in a statement. “I recommended him to President Trump because I know he will be effective, diligent, and fair; and I am glad that the Judiciary Committee approved his nomination today. I look forward to continuing to support Tom as his nomination moves to the full Senate for a vote.”
