Kentucky man arrested over incident which left officer hurt

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Kentucky man is in custody charged with an incident earlier this week which left a Huntington police officer injured.

Daymon Everage, 28, of Emmalena, Kentucky was arrested Friday night and charged with malicious assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction, and fleeing. The incident happened Thursday night when the unnamed officer responded to a drug overdose call in the 800 block of 22nd Street in Huntington.

According to investigators, Everage got into a vehicle and took off, hitting the officer and dragging him a short distance before wrecking the car.

The officer was treated and released for minor cuts and abrasions. Investigators also found a gun in Everage’s vehicle.

Everage is jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond in the Western Regional Jail.
