RIPLEY, W.Va. — A two-month-old girl is being treated at a Morgantown hospital after her father allegedly physically abused her, Jackson County authorities said.
Dylan Ray, 21, of Ripley, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
According to the criminal complaint, Ray told deputies he became frustrated over his daughter’s crying and screaming. He admitted to slamming her against her baby swing and throwing her across a room into furniture several times.
The complaint said deputies were told by medical officials at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital the baby suffered from “severe and brutal head injuries, causing multiple prominent subdural hemorrhages.” She had suffered no less than nine skull fractures, the medical staff said.
The two-month-old was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after her initial treatment in Charleston.
Ray was arraigned Tuesday in Jackson County Magistrate Court.
