Victims of fatal Harrison County crash were Shinnston residents

WILSONBURG, W.Va. — The two people killed in Tuesday’s fatal crash at the intersection of U.S. 50 and W.Va. 98 near Wilsonburg have been identified as Shinnston residents, Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny confirmed.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department has not yet released the victims’ names, pending family notification but Matheny did say that one of the individuals was a juvenile.

A total of eight vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday — three dump trucks, three passenger cars, a pickup truck and a water tanker truck.

Matheny said no charges or citations have yet been filed.

There is no update on the condition of the others involved in the crash.
