CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Ethics Commission voted unanimously that Morgantown Deputy Mayor Mark Brazaitis can vote should the purchase of Haymaker Forest come before City Council again.

The commission said Brazaitis’ participation in such votes would not be a conflict of interest, although he owns property that borders the forest.

The meeting was Thursday morning in Charleston.

Brazaitis cast two votes on the issue: The first, on June 5, in favor of buying the property, the second, on June 19, against postponing the issue.
