Police: Vehicle recovered in deadly Morgantown hit-and-run

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run collision in Morgantown last week has been recovered.

Morgantown police announced the development in a Friday afternoon news release.

“On the evening of July 12, 2018, Officers of the Morgantown Police Department working with members of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Clarksburg Police Department were able to locate the suspect vehicle. Currently the vehicle is in police custody and is being processed,” the release said.

Police released no new information Friday about the suspect. No arrests have been made.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 6 a man identified as Divante Coles, 20, of Morgantown, was struck from behind while riding a bicycle on state Route 7. He died a day later.

Investigators have spent several days reviewing surveillance video.
