WHEELING, W.Va. — Members of the West Virginia Republican Party will meet this weekend in Wheeling for the party’s annual summer meeting, which will include a vote on the party’s leader.
Activities pertinent to the party’s future will take place Saturday at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center; the West Virginia Republican State Executive Committee will receive an update on the party’s future and elect a chairperson to a full four-year term.
Chairwoman Melody Potter is seeking election for a full term. She was elected in January to succeed Conrad Lucas, who unsuccessfully ran for the party’s nomination in this year’s 3rd Congressional District election.
“It’s always enjoyable for our Republican officials and grassroots leaders to come together and catch up, but at the same time, this meeting is crucial because we will discuss our plans for supporting Republicans from Patrick Morrisey at the top of the ballot to local county Republicans,” Potter said n a statement.
The party’s State Executive Committee is made up of 125 elected members.
