Fire damages Upshur County plant

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — An expensive piece of equipment sustained major damage in a Friday evening fire at the Aleris Aluminum plant in Buckhannon.

According to authorities, the blaze began in a lathe that set fire to the large room where it is located.

Firefighters were able to keep the flames confined to that one area of the building.

There were no injuries. Damage estimates, which reports indicate could top $2 million, are ongoing.
