FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A leader for Fayette County Schools faces multiple felony charges.
The Fayette County Board of Education alerted Sheriff Mike Fridley and Prosecutor Larry Harrah of potential theft being committed by Director of Operations David Keffer, 45 of Oak Hill. Keffer allegedly removed copper piping from Collins Middle School on multiple occasions.
An investigation revealed Keffer allegedly sold the copper piping to a scrap purchaser in exchange for cash. He did this multiple times and without authorization.
Keffer was taken into custody Thursday evening on three felony counts of entering without breaking, one felony count each of grand larceny and destruction of property.
He was released on $20,000 bond.
