Deadly collision in Jackson County under investigation

MILLWOOD, W.Va. — A Parkersburg man was killed Monday when his parked vehicle was struck by a large truck that veered off Route 2 in Jackson County.

According to Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs, William Beymer, 68, was pulled off the highway near Millwood at around noon when the driver of a pipeline truck lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the back of Beymer’s truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the approaching vehicle to veer off the highway.

It’s believed Beymer had pulled off the road to make a phone call.
