Murder charge follows deadly vehicle wreck in Mason County

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. — An Ohio woman remained behind bars at the Western Regional Jail this weekend after allegedly running down and killing a Mason County man with her vehicle.

WSAZ Television reported first-degree murder was the charge against Bunky S. Cline, 54, of Gallipolis, Oh., for the death of Carl F. Hooten, 56, of Southside, W.Va.

Hooten was run over multiple times and died as a result either late Thursday night or early Friday morning near Chief Cornstalk Pond outside Henderson, according to deputies.

Cline allegedly told deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department Hooten was not intentionally hit.
