One dead in afternoon crash at 68/79 interchange

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident near the interchange of Interstate 68 and I-79 on Wednesday.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department was on scene and controlling traffic. According to WV 511, the southbound ramp onto I-79 was closed. Two of three lanes were closed on I-68 westbound.

According to scanner traffic, at least one person was ejected from the vehicle.

A cause of the accident has yet to be determined, said Chief Deputy Al Kisner.
