Fayette County man, others sentenced for March 2017 kidnapping

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A Fayette County judge sentenced a man Friday to 30 years in prison for a March 2017 kidnapping.

Justin Young, 29, entered a guilty plea on June 1 in connection with the kidnapping of Corey Skaggs, of Mount Carbon. Young and Michael Rogers, 20, beat and terrorized Skaggs before taking him to an abandoned mine site on Craig Mountain in Powellton. Skaggs was held at gunpoint and was told he was going to be killed.

Authorities said illegal drugs were involved in the case.

Young is currently serving a sentence for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Rogers, who also entered a guilty plea, was granted youthful offender status and will be in a program between six months and two years.

David Justice, who was also involved in the crime, was sentenced to 48 months of probation and fined $2,0000. Justice and Rogers were also ordered to reimburse Skaggs for his medical bills.
