Teamsters at Clarksburg health facility to go on strike

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Teamster members of Stonerise Healthcare voted this week to reject the company’s final offer, authorizing a strike in the process.

Teamster Local Union No. 175 said 97 percent of union members rejected the offer to send a message that the company failed to address the “fundamental lack of respect shown to them.”

“When Stonerise Health first bought the facility from Heartland in 2015, it threatened to replace all the employees,” the union said. “Since then, Stonerise has continued to show disregard to these employees culminating in its final offer which was rejected.”

Forty employees at the facility are Teamsters. The current contract expired Aug. 1, and the company did not contact the union regarding additional meetings.
