Collision in Wood County leaves one dead and one hospitalized

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — One person is dead and another hospitalized after a collision Thursday night on U.S. Route 50.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department confirms Shirley Leasure, 64, of Walker, West Virginia was killed in a collision around 9:30 p.m. Thursday near the Dallison Road intersection.

Investigators say Leasure pulled her car into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Route 50 and was struk in the driver’s side door. A passenger in the vehicle, Charles Alltop, 54, of Walker, West Virginia suffered severe injuries. He was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg and later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown where he continues his recovery. His condition is unknown.

Deputies say the fault in the accident lies with Leasure and the driver of the other vehicle will not be cited. The other driver and two children in his vehicle were not seriously injured.
