One person dead in Kanawha County shooting

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — One person is dead following a shooting Wednesday in Institute.

West Virginia State Police say Andre Leonard suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident happened in the 100 block of Elm Street around 6 p.m.

According to troopers, Leonard and the people involved in the shooting knew each other.

Troopers were speaking to a person of interest, adding there was no immediate threat to the area. West Virginia State University was put on precautionary lockdown for two hours.
