State Police seek man in connection with murder case

INSTITUTE, W.Va. — State Police are identifying a man they call a “person of interest” in a murder investigation.

Trooper want to speak to Juan Chic in connection with this week’s shooting death of Andre Leonard. Leonard died of multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot in the 100 block of Elm Street Wednesday evening near the campus of West Virginia State University.

“He and the victim were familiar with one another. He was there at the scene and we want to speak with him,” said First Sgt. Michael Anderson of the West Virginia State Police.

Chic is from the Kanawha County area and his last known location is in western Kanawha County in the St. Albans/Nitro area.

Troopers aren’t saying any more about the details of the investigation.

Chic is a black male, 5′-6″ tall and approximately 140 pounds. Anyone knowing his whereabouts is asked to contact authorities.
