3-star offensive tackle prospect Parker Moorer commits to WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia nabbed a Labor Day commitment from three-star offensive lineman Parker Moorer, and it came only 48 hours after the Mountaineers beat Tennessee 40-14 in the recruit’s hometown.

At 6-foot-5 and 296 pounds, Moorer had committed to Maryland in April before reneging on Aug. 11. He also holds offers from Louisville, Virginia, Indiana, Syracuse, Rutgers, Marshall and other Group of Five programs.

Moorer told Rivals that West Virginia has “always been my top school since my decommitment,” and he enjoyed the Mountaineers’ dominant win Saturday at Bank of America Stadium.

“When I went to go to the game and got to be around the fans it was just amazing,” Moorer said.

He became West Virginia’s 17th commitment overall — and the second offensive lineman — in a 2019 class that Rivals ranks 33rd nationally.

Rivals writer Keenan Cummings said the Mountaineers’ staff still hopes to add two more offensive linemen in this cycle, with two North Carolina prospects being targeted — three-star Damarcus Mills of Mooresville and Jason Ivey of Charlotte.

They’re also pursuing center Trent Holler, of Latrobe, Pa., whose offers include Pitt, Cincinnati, East Carolina and UConn.
