Man sentenced to 25 years for 2017 standoff

WINFIELD, W.Va. — A man accused of barricading himself inside of a Putnam County home in September 2017 was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison.

Murry Knox, 65, barricaded himself inside the home of his then-girlfriend after threatening to shoot her and attempting to burn the house down.

The woman escaped and called 911. Deputies engaged in a standoff that lasted around 10 hours.

Knox was sentenced to 10 years in prison for use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and five years for each of three counts of wanton endangerment.

Knox has already spent a year behind bars, which he will receive credit for.
