HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Recapping Marshall’s 32-16 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday night:
FIRST QUARTER
MARSHALL — Obialo 20 pass from Green (kick failed), 4:28.
Drive, 12 plays, 94 yards, 4:54. Isaiah Green’s 29-yard pass from Tyre Brady for first down in EKU territory. Two more passes to Green set up the the TD. Marshall leads 6-0
MARSHALL — Brady 6 pass from Green (Rohrwasser kick), 1:14.
The Herd gained possession at EKU’s 38 after an interception by Brandon Drayton. A reverse by Willie Johnson picked up 20 yards to the Colonels’. Green tossed a TD pass to Brady, who broke a tackle to get into end zone. Herd goes 38 yards in six plays, using 3:07. Marshall leads 13-0
SECOND QUARTER
EKU — L.J. Scott 3 run (pass failed), 10:41.
For second time, EKU punts and a ball hit a Herd player. The Colonels recovered at Marshall’s 19. A pass interference flag in the end zone on third down gave EKU first-and-goal at the 3. After Scott scored on run on next play, EKU went for two, but the pass failed. Marshall leads 13-6
MARSHALL — King 5 run (Rohrwasser kick), 4:38.
Score set up by Herd’s third pick of half. Malik Thompson tips EKU pass at line and linebacker Frankie Hernandez picks it off and returns from 35 to EKU 5. One play drive. Marshall leads 20-6
THIRD QUARTER
EKU — Booth 7 run (Hayworth kick), 12:28.
Kickoff to start third quarter, Colonels kick and recover ball at Herd 30. Visitors go 30 yards in five plays. Alonzo Booth scores TD. Colonels using third quarterback of game, Alphonso Howard. MU leads 20-13.
MARSHALL — Obialo 40 pass from Green (Rohrwasser kick), 10:49.
Marshall drives 55 yards in five plays. Herd mixes run and pass to march to TD. TD came on free play as EKU defender jumped offside prior to snap. Marshall leads 27-13.
FOURTH QUARTER
MARSHALL— Rohrwasser 35 FG, 7:27.
First field goal of season for Herd. MU drove 71 yards in 12 plays and 4:14 off clock. Big plays Green passes of 22 yards to Artie Henry and 39 yards to Xavier Gaines for first down at EKU 13. 39-yard gain came on free play as Colonels jumped offside and had pass interference. Both were declined. Marshall leads 30-13
EKU — Hayworth 29 FG, 4:19.
Drive set up when Colonels block Herd punt and recover at 10. Marshall defense holds and forces field goal try. Fourth special teams error for Marshall. Two EKU punts hit Herd defender and recovering a kickoff to start third period. Marshall leads 30-16.
MARSHALL — Safety, EKU quarterback tackled in end zone, 3:06.
After the Herd’s punt was downed at 5, the Colonels went backward and quarterback Dakota Allen was tackled in end zone. Marshall leads 32-16
