Cleanup continues after train derailment in Fayette County

FAYETTE STATION, W. Va. — Workers continue to cleanup after a weekend train derailment in Fayette County.

Several cars carrying coal went off the tracks just below Fayette Station early Sunday morning, according to authorities.  No injuries were reported.

Park ranger Leah Perkowski-Sisk said traffic near Fayette Station could be impacted as CSX workers continue to clear the tracks.

“They are moving some heavy equipment and vehicles down the south side of the New River Gorge Bridge, so that would normally be the side that traffic is coming up out of the gorge.”

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
