Doddridge County fire department closed due to poor equipment

DODDRIDGE COUNTY, W.Va. — The McClellan District Volunteer Fire Department shut down on Monday because of what was described in a statement as “defective and out-of-date equipment.”

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office identified the issues in an investigation, which came from a complaint to the agency.

The Smithburg, Shirley and Salem volunteer fire departments will serve Center Point residents until restructuring of the McClellan District department is complete and the issues are corrected.
