Sports betting begins at the Greenbrier

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Greenbrier became the second casino in West Virginia to offer sports betting when the sportsbook operated by FanDuel opened Thursday.

The Casino Club at The Greenbrier joins Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races as the first two casinos to take advantage of a new state law.

Hollywood Casino opened over the Labor Day weekend and during its first four days took in $640,000 in total bets.

The Sportsbook Lounge at The Greenbrier includes 21 large screen televisions turned to sporting events.

The Greenbrier and FanDuel announced their agreement back in June.

“We are honored to be chosen to provide sports wagering services at The Greenbrier, an iconic resort in the U.S.,” FanDuel CEO Matt King said in a news release. “As we work towards building out a top sports betting product for the upcoming NFL season, we look forward to bringing West Virginia residents, sports fans, and visitors to The Greenbrier the best interactive sports experience on the market.”

FanDuel was founded in 2009.

The Casino Club is a private casino. Players have to be registered guests at The Greenbrier.
