GRAFTON, W.Va. — U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy Allen Bolyard will be laid to rest Wednesday afternoon in Taylor County.
Flags will also fly at half staff in West Virginia in honor of the Thornton native who lost his life during an ‘insider attack’ Sept. 3 in Afghanistan.
The 42-year-old Bolyard was shot by an Afghani police officer following a security meeting at Afghan National Army Base in Logar Province, which is just south of Kabul.
This was the second insider attack against an American solider in the past two months. Bolyard was serving his seventh tour of duty.
Bolyard, who began his service in 1994, was a highly decorated soldier. He was a six-time recipient of the Bronze Star. Two of the awards were for valor.
Bolyard’s death is the sixth American fatality in Afghanistan this year.
A viewing was held for Bolyard Tuesday.
