More than 2 dozen counties under flash flood watch

More than two dozen counties are under the flash flood watch.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for more than two dozen counties in West Virginia beginning late Saturday night into Sunday night.

According to the NWS meteorologists, “Soils across the area are nearly saturated due to previous rainfall. Additional showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rain, are expected to affect the area tonight through Sunday night.”

Flash flooding could happen on creeks, streams and low-lying areas.

The counties under the watch include:

Barbour, Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo, Nicholas, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor, Upshur, Wayne, Webster and Wirt.
