Police: Man injured trying to stop suspected drunk driver

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man was injured Saturday night when he and his neighbors tried to stop a suspected drunk driver, Charleston police said.

Residents reported the driver had struck a parked vehicle in the 400 block of Kanawha City at about 8 p.m. According to police, some residents came out to block the driver from exiting the scene after the collision. One of those residents jumped in the vehicle when the driver started to drive away. He then fell out of the vehicle and suffered a head injury. He refused to be taken to the hospital.

Police later found the vehicle but not the driver. The vehicle is described as a 2003 silver Jeep with Ohio tag DZX7090. The alleged driver was described as a white man in his 40’s with a thin build.
