Man accused of hostage exchange killed

SCARBRO, W.Va. — A man accused of holding a woman hostage at a Fayette County home is dead.

According to the West Virginia State Police, William Cox held the female inside a home on Okey L. Patteson Road. Troopers entered the home and attempted to negotiate for her release.

Cox allegedly began threatening the woman’s life. When he raised a gun in their direction, troopers shot Cox in the head.
