Suspect on the run following shooting in Greenbrier County

CHARMCO, W.Va. — Multiple law enforcement agencies began a search for a shooting suspect Monday night, after a Greenbrier County man was wounded by gunfire.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 pm at a residence on Rock Street in Charmco. The victim, Steven Dunn, 41, suffered a single gunshot wound, and was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment. The extent of Dunn’s injuries was not released.

A warrant was issued for Jeffery L. Blackburn, 33, of Rainelle. He was charged with malicious wounding. Another man, Lorne Atkins, 48, of Rainelle, was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony in connection with the shooting.

The West Virginia State Police and the Charleston Police Department assisted in the initial investigation.
