MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Guns, drugs and cash were seized in a raid on a room at the Euro Suites Hotel on Chestnut Ridge Road by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force (MMDTF) Tuesday.
Terry W. Trapp, 48, of Philadelphia, is charged with three counts of possession with intent and conspiracy to commit a drug offense.
Sergeant R. Jiles, task force commander, said the bust was the result of a stop made by a uniformed Morgantown Police Officer who alerted the task force.
Oscar Watkins Jr. was arrested prior to the hotel room being searched, Trapp’s criminal complaint stated. Watkins said he was staying at the Euro Suites and was caught delivering a pound of crystal meth to someone at the hotel’s parking lot, the complaint stated.
The task force searched room 411 and discovered Trapp in the room with five pounds of crystal methamphetamine in several large bulk packages, according to the complaint.
Dozens of smaller packages of meth, approximately an ounce in weight, and a scale were also found in the room.
Jiles said the street value of the seized meth is about $77,000 and the bust is one of the larger seizures of crystal meth by the task force.
Four firearms, including one which was reported stolen from Monongalia County and “bulk U.S. currency” were found in the room, the complaint stated.
Despite four handguns in the room, Jiles said the search went “very smoothly without incident.”
The search also turned up a sandwich size bag with dozens of smaller bags of heroin and a sandwich size bag with dozens of smaller bags of crack cocaine, the complaint said.
Both Watkins and Trapp told police they traveled from Philadelphia to Morgantown and stayed in room 411 together.
Each count of possession with intent is punishable by one to five years in prison and/or a fine up to $15,000.
Trapp was arraigned in Monongalia County Circuit Court by Magistrate Jim Nabors Tuesday and is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
