Frosty mornings ahead

 

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Chances are wherever you are in West Virginia you’re probably going to have to scrape the windshield before you leave for work for the next two days.

“Temperatures are going to drop down to 32 degrees and even below freezing in portions of southeast Ohio and the northeast mountains of West Virginia,” said Meteorologist Andy Roche at the Charleston weather bureau.

The deep freeze comes after some place recorded temperatures in the 80’s just days ago.

“It’s like a year without fall,” Roche laughed. “It’s going to be very chilly.”

Frost is expected throughout most West Virginia Thursday and Friday morning and it will be a killing freeze meany any outdoors plants will be killed unless they are protected. Although the temperatures will be cold, Roche said he didn’t anticipate any snowflakes from the system.

“If anything is possible it will be in the northeast mountains and on the up-slopes because of the higher elevations,” he said. “But I don’t see any major snow accumulation.”
