Deputies say medical episode may have caused fatal crash

BIG CHIMNEY, W.Va. — A man who died in a truck crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 79 in Kanawha County may have suffered a medical episode before he lost control of his vehicle, authorities said.

Victor Barry Clark, 75, of Charleston, died not long after his southbound truck went out of control near the Big Chimney exit Wednesday afternoon. It came to a stop on the other side of the northbound lanes after going through the median and overturning. Clark was not wearing a seat belt.

Clark’s wife was also in the truck. She was alert when deputies arrived on the scene. Her injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
