Man accused of shooting a gun on High Street liked his own suspect photo

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The man police say fired shots into the air on High Street liked the post of his own picture identifying himself as a suspect on Facebook, according to court documents.

Shaiheed Jamuro Moore was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshal’s Mountain State Fugitive Task Force in Charleston, according to a WVU press release.

After the Oct. 7 shooting, WVU Police posted a photograph of Moore and another man on its Facebook page asking for help identifying the two men.

According to a criminal complaint, one of the people who liked that photo was Moore. Moore’s Facebook profile picture was updated Oct. 6 and showed him wearing the same clothing as in the suspect photo.

Other pictures on Moore’s Facebook page matched the suspect the complaint stated. WVU Police obtained a copy of Moore’s photograph from the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, which also matched the suspect in the photo.

The 21-year-old is charged with felony wanton endangerment and was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court where bond was set at $10,000. As of Friday afternoon, Moore remained in South Central Regional Jail.

Moore is not a WVU student, the press release stated.

Video footage showed several men trying to enter through a side entrance of 672 North High Street, but people einside were preventing them from doing so, the complaint said. The men left and two of them turn around in front of the Kappa Alpha Order house when the front one turned around, raised his left hand towards 672 North High Street and two burst of light that appear to be muzzle flashes are seen, according to the complaint.

Three Winchester 9mm rounds were found on High Street near the Kappa Alpha house, the complaint stated.

People ran and ducked after the shots were fired and the suspect ran down High Street.
