Candidate for sheriff in Greenbrier County arrested

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — A Greenbrier County man who is running for sheriff was arrested this week by West Virginia State Troopers and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.

According to the Greenbrier County Circuit Clerk’s office, Mark Robinson of Renick violated a domestic violence protective order, earlier this month. During a hearing on Wednesday, Robinson waived his extradition. The alleged incident occurred in Augusta County, Virginia. Robinson will be transported by Virginia authorities to a jail in Augusta County within the next 10 days.

Robinson is running for Sheriff in Greenbrier County against the incumbent, Bruce Sloan.
