Class A

No. 14 Fayetteville (5-3) at No. 2 Mount View (7-1)

When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Last Week: Fayetteville lost to Midland Trail 26-10.  Mount View lost to PikeView 28-26.

Why It’s Important: Both teams lost last week. Fayetteville needs a win to improve its chances of making the playoffs. Mount View has clinched a playoff spot, but needs a win to hold on to the second seed, which would keep the Golden Knights at home up until the state championship or their season ends.

Who To watch for Fayetteville: Running back Jordan Dempsey is closing in on 1,100 yards rushing on the season with 17 touchdowns.

Who to watch for Mount View: Quarterback Jesse Rose has thrown for more than 900 yards and 15 touchdowns and running back Elijah Barner has rushed for more than 700 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Class A vs. Class AA

Class A No. 3 Midland Trail (8-0) at Class AA No. 14 Oak Hill (6-2)

When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Last Week: Midland Trail defeated Fayetteville 26-10. Oak Hill lost to Bluefield 49-6.

Why it’s important: For Midland Trail, a win could clinch a top 4 seed in the Class A playoffs. For Oak Hill, this is essentially a must win as it will be the last chance to beat a playoff team and a loss likely leaves them outside the top 6 before next week’s regular season finale against Westside.

Who to watch for Midland Trail: Quarterback Austin Isaacs has rushed for more than 800 yards and nine touchdowns and has thrown for more than 900 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Who to watch for Oak Hill: Quarterback Khori Bass has thrown for 970 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 745 yards and 11 touchdowns. Abraham Farrow has rushed for 794 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 29 passes for 784 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Class AA

No. 5 Bluefield (7-1) at James Monroe (6-2)

When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Last Week: Bluefield defeated Oak Hill 49-6. James Monroe defeated Liberty Raleigh 38-12.

Why It’s Important: The Beavers are trying to get back into the top 4 in Class AA. For James Monroe, this is almost a must win as the Mavericks are sitting just outside the top 16 (currently No. 17) and end the regular season against Point Pleasant. A loss this week could mean there’s simply too many teams to jump even with an upset win next week.

Who To watch for Bluefield: Running back Jamere ‘Juice’ Edwards has rushed for close to 750 yards and 10 scores and running back J.J. Davis has rushed for over 650 yards on just 39 carries.

Who to watch for James Monroe: Running back Cody Moore has rushed for more than 400 yards and five touchdowns and quarterback Monroe Mohler has thrown for 480 yards and five touchdowns.

Class AAA

No. 14 George Washington (4-4) at Woodrow Wilson (2-6)

When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Last Week: George Washington defeated Riverside 39-36. Woodrow Wilson lost to Capital 64-0.

Why it’s important: It is a must win for George Washington as the Patriots have a matchup with Capital next week and a win here could lock up a playoff spot even with a loss next week. For the Eagles, it’s about pride and trying to upset George Washington.

Who to watch for George Washington: Quarterback Grant Wells, a Marshall University commit, has done everything and is coming off a game last week where he threw for 357 yards and three TDs on 23-of-34 passing. Wells also ran for 79 yards.

Who to watch for Woodrow Wilson: The Eagles want to see if the offense can get going as they have only scored 29 points in the last four games with back-to-back shutouts.

Other games: Greenbrier East (4-4) at Princeton (0-8); Liberty Raleigh (0-8) at Shady Spring (6-2); Clay County (5-3) at PikeView (4-5); Independence (3-6) at Wyoming East (2-6); Riverview (3-6) at Sherman (7-1); Van (7-1) at Valley Fayette (1-8); Richwood (2-6) at Summers County (5-3); Webster County (5-4) at Montcalm (1-7); Meadow Bridge (3-5) at Calhoun County (1-7); Tygarts Valley (5-3) at Pocahontas County (4-4)
