CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man was shot and killed on the Capital City’s West Side late Thursday night.
According to police, the victim was shot 5 to 8 times outside the Go-Mart on West Washington Street at around 11:30 p.m. He was taken to CAMC General where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is continuing.
According to Charleston police, “The suspect is unknown at this time. Investigators are following up on leads, reviewing video, and speaking with witnesses.”
Police Chief Steve Cooper said the victim is local.
In a separate case, police took a man into custody early Friday morning whom they believe responsible for a recent shooting death in Kanawha City.
Joseph Lucas is charged with killing Timothy Rush outside the Dome Bar on Sept. 30.
“He was taken into custody by United States Marshals,” Cooper said. “He is currently incarcerated at the South Central Regional Jail.”
Lucas was arrested in the Elk River community of Valley View Lane in Clay County near the Kanawha County line.
