Suspect ID’d in fatal Princeton shooting

PRINCETON, W.Va. — A suspect has been named in connection with a fatal shooting in Princeton Sunday.

Jan Williams Jr., 25, of Princeton is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Jason Varney, 29, of Princeton.  A bond hearing for Williams was scheduled to take place on Monday.  According to the sheriff’s department, Varney was shot once in the back and once in the arm.  The incident happened on Kee St. near the intersection with Wickham Ave.

Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler said Monday the shooting involved an alleged illegal drug transaction.
