Wetzel County hunter is our first prize winner in 2018 contest

Lisa Kelch of Hundred, W.Va. is the first winner in our Ram Trucks Trophy Photo contest for 2018. Lisa submitted this picture of a buck she killed in Wetzel County on October 13, 2018 with a cross bow.

Lisa, who is a speech therapist with the Wetzel County School system,  offered up the following narrative with her entry to tell us about a hunt which she described as “..a dream come true.”

I was fortunate enough to harvest this once in a lifetime West Virginia buck on October 13th, 2018. My husband and I have played cat-and-mouse with this buck we named “Stickers” for the past few years. I saw a lot of deer that evening and just before it was going to be too dark to shoot and my husband was to pick me up at my stand, all I saw were beams popping over the bank to my left. I knew it had to be “Stickers”. He walked right in and I didn’t waste any time making my shot. I was so nervous, trying not to look at his rack! About 5 minutes after making the shot, my husband came to get me and I got to share the news with him, still shaking! We looked around and found my arrow with good blood. After (impatiently) waiting a couple of hours, we went to look for him….about 50 yards down to the next flat there lay Stickers…even bigger that I imagined. He’s got a little bit of everything. I could not be prouder of my WV giant!
