Handful of meetings highlight lawmakers’ return to Charleston

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Fresh off the Nov. 6 General Election, state lawmakers return to Charleston Sunday for monthly interim committee meetings.

The schedule is light with only three meetings set for Sunday and one for Monday.

Meetings Sunday include the Post Audits Subcommittee, scheduled for 4 p.m, where the agenda includes reports on audits focused on the Division of Juvenile Services and the former state penitentiary at Moundsville.

The subcommittee will also discuss a report on grants handled by the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. There will also be an update for the group on Supreme Court spending.

The Joint Committee on Government and Finance will meet at 4 p.m. to receive reports from various state government agencies.

Monday’s schedule is set aside for the legislature’s Rule-Making Review Committee. A 12-hour meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
