Third man charged in connection with Marion County death

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Three men have now been charged in connection with a September murder in Marion County.

According to Marion County sheriff’s deputies, Vernon Carpenter, 40, of Morgantown, has now been taken into custody in connection with the death of Luka Grabb of Fairmont.

Deputies have previously charged Russell Kirk, 36, and James Vincent, 29, both of Fairmont, in connection with Grabb’s death. Kirk allegedly had a video of Grabb saying he planned to rob Vincent. Vincent then allegedly shot Grabb. His dead body was found along Pinch Gut Hollow Road.

Carpenter has been charged with being an accessory before the murder. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
