Mother and daughter killed in Boone County wreck

MADISON, W.Va. — A mother and daughter from Boone County are identified as the victims in a fatal accident from Thursday evening on Route 94.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department said Donna Workman, 70 and her daughter Nola Niday, 52, both from Gordon, died in the head on collision near Lens Creek Mountain.

“The weather was bad and it was raining pretty good,” said Boone County Chief Deputy Chad Barker. “It could have been some equipment issues on one of the vehicles and you pair a couple of those together and you’ll find the cause of the accident.”

Their vehicle crossed the center line on the highway and sideswiped one vehicle, the crashed head on into an ambulance from the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department.

Deputies say a total of seven people were injured in the crash, but the rest of the victims are expected to recover.
