Monongalia County collision claims 3 lives

PENTRESS, W.Va. — Three people are dead after an accident between a coal truck and crossover SUV on W. Va. 7 in front Chisler Brothers in Pentress on Friday afternoon.

Chief Deputy Al Kisner of the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, said two people died in the accident and a third died on the way to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

A 2013 Toyota Venza traveling west appears to have crossed the center line and hit a 2001 Western Star coal truck traveling east about 2:15 p.m., Kisner said.

The driver, front passenger and back right passenger in the Venza were killed, he said.

Family notifications have not been completed and the department is not yet identifying those killed, Kisner said.

A fourth person in the Toyota was taken to the hospital, but Kisner said deputies told him he appeared uninjured.

The coal truck’s driver was not injured, Kisner said.
