DODDRIDGE COUNTY, W.Va. — Authorities have released the identification of the 20-year-old Salem man who was killed Monday morning in a collision on U.S. 50.

Jeffrey William Hawkins II was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck westbound on U.S. 50 when the vehicle crossed the median and crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. Monday near Wiseman Run Road.

Hawkins’ truck caught on fire after the crash, and firefighters had to cut apart the truck to extricate him from the vehicle.

He was taken to United Hospital Center in Bridgeport where he was pronounced dead.

Fire and rescue crews from Doddridge, Ritchie and Harrison counties responded to the scene.
