North Carolina couple identified in fatal I-79 wreck

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Two people from North Carolina have been identified in a fatal Saturday accident in Monongalia County.

Ghazi Farah Sakran, 83, and Donnis Philbeck Sakran, 82, both of Winston-Salem, NC, were pronounced dead following the wreck on I-79 North.

The two were reportedly traveling southbound near mile marker 155 when their vehicle crossed the median and into the northbound lanes.

Sakran’s vehicle hit another one, injuring the passengers in that car. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating.
