Fayette County’s “Winter Wonderland” display opens this weekend

BECKWITH, W.Va. — The opening of one of West Virginia’s best-known Christmas season displays is now just a few days away.

The Fayette County Park Winter Wonderland, one of the longest-running annual holiday celebrations in southern West Virginia, has been scheduled to begin on Dec. 1st at the park in Beckwith, featuring approximately 300,000 lights which can be viewed either by car or on foot.  The display attracted more than 10,000 visitors to the park, last year.

As part of this year’s celebration, Active Southern West Virginia announced it’s sponsorship of the park’s 3rd annual Ugly Sweater 5K Walk/Run on Friday, beginning at 5 pm, with event ornaments being presented to the first 100 people who register.

A calendar of Winter Wonderland events for December is available at the Fayette County Park’s facebook page.
