CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Freshman forward Kari Niblack produced a career-high 18 points and 12 rebounds and West Virginia dominated during a 78-29 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday in women’s basketball.
Naomi Davenport added 16 points, Tynice Martin chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds and Madison Smith finished with 10 points for the Mountaineers (6-2), who jumped out to a 20-2 lead.
West Virginia previously beat Eastern Kentucky 81-39 on Nov. 24 at the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas.
“My biggest concern was that we were going to play down,” Mountaineers coach Mike Carey said. “When you beat a team by 40 earlier in the season, then it’s easy to play down.”
Led by Catie Kaifes’ eight points, EKU (1-9) shot just 11-of-55 (20 percent), and it made just 3-of-14 free throws.
