Morgan County man dead after falling into ditch

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A Morgan County man is dead after authorities say he fell into a drainage ditch on his property.

Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer said deputies responded to 767 Murphy Road on Tuesday after family members found Gordon Gregory, 70, in the ditch at the bottom of a hill near his vehicle.

Gregory was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Examiner Christy Duckwall.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Gregory apparently drove down the hill from his home, came stuck in the low lying soft ground and ditch,” said Sheriff Bohrer. “It appears Mr. Gregory got out of his vehicle and collapsed in the ditch.”

There were no signs of foul play. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department handled the investigation.
