Ohio man charged in Summers County fatal shooting

MEADOWS CREEK, W.Va. — State police have made an arrest in a Summers County murder case.

Anthony D. Johnson, 41, of Columbus, Ohio, was taken into custody Wednesday in Raleigh County.

According to troopers, an altercation between Johnson and Thomas Sanford II, of Meadows Creek, led to Sanford being fatally shot Tuesday morning.  Investigators said the two men were arguing about illegal drugs when the shooting occurred.  At the time of his arrest, Johnson was in possession of unspecified drugs.

Johnson was charged with first degree murder.  He was taken to Southern Regional Jail on a capias charge in Raleigh County.  His bond hearing has not been scheduled.
