Morgantown rallies late to edge Martinsburg 59-55

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown outscored Martinsburg 21-14 in the fourth quarter to win the opening game of the American Homes Holiday Classic, 59-55.

Sydni Clawges scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the final quarter to propel the Mohigans (3-4) to their second consecutive victory after a 1-4 start to the season. Kaitlyn Ammons scored 12 points for Morgantown and Catherine Wassick added 11.

Morgantown scored almost half of their points from the free throw line. They ended the game making 25 of 38 attempts from the charity stripe.

Martinsburg led for the majority of the game after taking the lead midway through the second quarter. Morganne Andrews led the Bulldogs (1-3) with 16 points while Amelia Jenkins chipped in with 13.
