Charleston police investigate animal cruelty case

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police are investigating an animal cruelty case after a dog was found dead Sunday afternoon.

Officers responded to call on Madison Street where  a dog appeared to have been stabbed in the neck and strangled. They found knives and a cloth bathrobe tie at the scene.

According to investigators, the dog was small and white. It weighed about 10 pounds. It was not wearing tags or a collar.

It’s believed the dog had been dead for more than 24 hours. Police said they had no suspects.
